Ultracam Progress Meeting - 24 January 2001

Notes of Meeting:

· Optical

Drawings have been returned and Tully has looked through them. Just waiting on manufacture.

· Electronics/Mechanical

Mechanical design has gone out for camera heads. One part had an error and will take one/two weeks to be re-done.

DSP side has been looked at.

Just waiting on controller to arrive so that David can then get up to speed.

CCD manufacture - big problem putting on optimised blue coating as the charge transfer efficiency is effected. They will have to try again and this will cause a two month delay. A fall back is to a use a mid band coating or UV coating if they still can't get blue band to work.

PCB Board has been tested and this checked out okay.

Ready to plug in CCD when controller comes.

· Software

No progress this year so far. Derek will have to push to get back the time that Chris has missed as they have a lot to catch up on the rest of the project.

PCI board is being shipped at end of week. Should have controller and two PCI by Feb. It may be possible to test one of the PCI boards in the WFCAM LINUX machine.

Andy has to order: re-radiating kit (if required) [order through UK to confirm it is compatible and usable here], LINUX distribution and GPS time clock. Okay was given for all of these.

Andy wants to prove that hardware and software is compatible before review in February.

Review is provisionally set for 28^th February 2001. Detailed design should be available by then.

Derek will be checking that EAS figures on system are as per his requirements.

Derek spoke to Vik by telephone in the afternoon. They were agreed on waiting for MAT to deliver the
required blue coated CCDs and accept the delay. Vick needs to talk to Tully about tooling fits for the optics.

Agreed the date for the review.
