Ultracam Progress Meeting - 21 March 2001

Notes of Meeting:

· Optical

Contract for manufacture has been put out to tender.

Tully has also started Aristorchos drawing work - this has to be done under HIE support scheme and is not officially part of project, but is integral part.

Tully is away the week before and week after Easter.

· Mechanical

Still nothing to report on mechanical.

Mechanical team want to come a see Tully and this needs to be scheduled - will take maybe a full day.

[Suggestion from Vik is that this should be the 11^th April (Wednesday).]

· Electronics

Currently using Engineering grade CCD - won't use science grade for a couple of months. One science array is not to spec and is to be replaced.

Have pictures at room temp using CCD and this is now under vacuum and cooled.

David still has a learning curve with DSP code etc and is steadily working his way through this work

Chris had meeting with Derek & David for software plans - David believes there was nothing unworkable in this.

· Software

Ultracam PCI board is in lab, in WFCAM PC. Derek will be using this for the moment until Voodoo is up and running. Not sure what stage he is at yet.

Chris may have some time is a week or two to assist with reading out array of PCI bus

Andy will not have time to work on system until 9th of April (currently tied up with NAOMI).

· AOB

Andy calling Vikram to discuss progress after meeting.

CDR is now postponed. Provisional date of Wednesday 9^th May has been set.

Documentation for this should be ready by 27^th April as these should be with Sheffield by 2^nd May (need description of system planning to be built [assessment design]).

Open Day to be held on 13^th & 14^th of April, Vikram has a poster we can use if required.
