Subject: Actual transmission curve(Super SDSS u'-band filter)
To: Vik Dhillon <vik.dhillon@sheffield.ac.uk>

Dear Prof. Dhillon,

Next, Super SDSS u'-band filter
--------------------------------------
[u'-band]
> Red wing of u' requires a +1nm shift.
In a collimated beam at AOI 0 degree,
Cut-on wavelength: No specification
Cut-off wavelength: 391 nm (i.e. 390 nm + 1 nm) +4/-4 nm

CUT-OFF WAVELENGTH CONFIRMED.
> FOR CUT-ON WAVELENGTH, YOU SAY "NO SPECIFICATION",
> BUT I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE AS BLUE AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE
> COULD I PROPOSE: "NOT REDDER THAN 311nm" ?

Cut-on wavelength: around 311 nm or so

"Around 311nm" is fine with me, so that is also confirmed.
--------------------------------------
Actual cut-on wavelength was approximately 309.5 nm, and cut-off
was approximately 392 nm.
Cut-on wavelength, 309.5 nm means *bluer* (i.e. not redder) than
311 nm as you
requested.
Actual transmission in u'-passband surpasses our suggested, "T
> 85%".

Regards,

Toshihiko
--------------------------------------
[HiPERCAM u' filter]
Cut-on wavelength tolerance: +4 nm, -6 nm
Cut-on wavelength tolerance: +/-4 nm
T > 85% or over in passband
T (average) < 0.01% 300 nm - 1000 nm
T < 0.1% 300 nm - 1100 nm

Subject: Actual transmission curve(Super SDSS g'-band filter)

Dear Prof. Dhillon,

I will send the actual transmission curve of Super SDSS g'-band filter
today.
--------------------------------------
[g'-band]
> Blue wing of g' requires NO shift.
> Red wing of g' requires a -1nm shift.
In a collimated beam at AOI 0 degree,
Cut-on wavelength: 400 nm +5/-5 nm
Cut-off wavelength: 549 nm (i.e. 550 nm - 1 nm) +5/-5 nm

CONFIRMED.
--------------------------------------
Actual cut-on wavelength was approximately 398 nm, and cut-off
was approximately 547.5 nm.
Both wavelengths completely meet our final agreement.

Actual transmission in g'-passband surpasses "T(average)
> 95%"
we suggested last year as well as r', i', z'-band.

Best regards,

Toshihiko
--------------------------------------
[HiPERCAM g' ~ z' filter]
Cut-on and off wavelength tolerance: each +/-5 nm
T(average) > 95% or over in passband
T > 90% in passband (i.e. valley of ripple must not be less than 90%)
T (average) < 0.01% 300 nm - 1100 nm
T < 0.1% 300 nm - 1100 nm

Subject: Actual transmission curve(Super SDSS z'-band filter)

Dear Prof. Dhillon,

Today, Super SDSS z'-band.
--------------------------------------
[z'-band]
> I make the T50% wavelength 833.29nm, so rounded to 833nm,
> not 834nm as you have specified. Please could you confirm this?
In a collimated beam at AOI 0 degree,
Cut-on wavelength: 833 nm +5/-5 nm

Good - so that is confirmed then.
--------------------------------------
Actual cut-on wavelength was approximately 830.5 nm.
It meets our final agreement.

Regards,

Toshihiko

Subject: Actual transmission curve(Super SDSS i'-band filter)

Dear Prof. Dhillon,

I will send the actual transmission curve of Super SDSS i'-band filter
today.
--------------------------------------
[i'-band]
> Blue wing of i' requires NO shift.
> Red wing of i' requires a +5nm shift.
In a collimated beam at AOI 0 degree,
Cut-on wavelength: 695 nm +5/-5 nm
Cut-off wavelength: 841 nm (i.e. 836 nm + 5 nm) +5/-5 nm

CONFIRMED.
--------------------------------------
Actual cut-on wavelength was approximately 697.5 nm, and cut-off
was approximately 844 nm.
Both wavelengths meet our final agreement.

The shape of i'-band passband is the best one that I have ever seen,
even "beautiful"!

Thanks,

Toshihiko

Subject: Actual transmission curve(Super SDSS r'-band filter)

Dear Prof. Dhillon,

I will send the actual transmission curve of all the Super SDSS filters
with Excel format from today, first, r'-band.

Two filters (for HiPERCAM and ULTRACAM) were ordered in
each u' ~ z' band.
Each two filters were coated together by the same production lot.

I remember you stopped by our booth at SPIE meeting in Edinburgh,
and found the poster, "HSC (600 mm) r'-band transmission curve".
(I suppose that it would be a motivation for you to decide the order)
The coating result of Super SDSS r' was equivalent to the HSC r'.
--------------------------------------
[r'-band]
> Blue wing of r' requires NO shift.
> Red wing of r' requires NO shift.
In a collimated beam at AOI 0 degree,
Cut-on wavelength: 550 nm +5/-5 nm
Cut-off wavelength: 686 nm +5/-5 nm

CONFIRMED.
--------------------------------------
Actual cut-on wavelength was approximately 551 nm, and cut-off
was approximately 688 nm (688.25 nm).
Both wavelengths meet our final agreement.

632.8 nm of our Zygo laser interferometer can transmit through only
r'-band filter.
I will send the transmitted wavefront data of r' filters later.

Sincerely,

Toshihiko
